The Holy Muktinath, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists, is located at an elevation of 3,750 meters at the foot of the Thorong-La pass in the Mustang area. The Hindus refer to it as Mukti Kshetra, which translates as "the site of salvation," while the Buddhists refer to it as Chumig Gyatsa, which translates as "Hundred Waters." Muktinath's primary shrine is a pagoda-shaped temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Water from the Gandaki River spouts from the 108 waterspouts near the temple, where Hindu worshippers bathe ritually.

Muktinath is also a location where 'Shaligram' may be found. Shaligram (Ammonite fossil) is a black stone that, when split open, shows the fossilized remnants of prehistoric ammonites that lived around 130 million years ago. Hindus believe Lord Vishnu lives in the Shaligram. Other holy sites in the area of Muktinath Temple include Jwalamai Temple, Marme Lhakhang, and GompaSarwa. You may either trek up from Jomsom, which will take around 5-7 hours, or you can take advantage of our heli flights to Muktinath they have recently grown in popularity.

A helicopter tour is not only a fantastic way to save time, but it also provides an unparalleled perspective of the entire region from a bird's eye, which only a few people get to see. Some describe the Muktinath heli trip as a "fairy tale".You will be flying high above the beautiful and scenic views of Snow Peak Mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. Fly from Pokhara to Muktinath by helicopter, then take a 30-minute trek up to the Muktinath Temple. You will be allowed one and a half hours of helicopter holding time to reach the temple; but, if you want additional time, you must obtain prior clearance.
